The Art in Public Places program ensures that you can enjoy the county like an open-air gallery, with original works gracing the walls and courtyards of 16 county facilities. There’s practically endless opportunities to explore diverse artistic expression with a wide array of performing arts centers, cultural museums and historical venues. From cultural engagement events to community-based theater, residents can immerse themselves in a thriving arts scene that celebrates and preserves the region’s rich cultural heritage. And Volusia County is proud to support 30+ cultural and historical organizations through a grant program implemented by the Cultural Council of Volusia County.

Art enthusiast? Volusia FL is an aesthetic’s haven with several art shows and festivals throughout the year. The Daytona Beach Art Festival is a stellar example with its vibrant street art competition and juried arts & craft marketplace, showcasing the talent of over 100 local and visiting artists.
Other highlights include the Halifax Art Festival, which holds the distinction of being one of the oldest continual art festivals in Florida, drawing nearly 30,000 visitors annually, and the DeLand Festival of the Arts.
A Captivating Cultural Scene
Step into a treasure trove of cultural and educational experiences with Volusia FL’s abundant art galleries, historical venues and science museums. Stop by the Halifax Historical Museum for a captivating journey through the region’s past. Visit the Smithsonian-affiliated Museum of Arts & Sciences for a diverse experience including one of the most important collections of Cuban fine and folk art outside of Cuba, the Williams Children’s Museum, the Lohman Planetarium, the Root Family Museum with one of the largest collections of Coca-Cola memorabilia in the world, and the Brown Museum of Art housing the world’s largest collection of Florida art . For the performing arts, the Peabody Auditorium Is home to the Daytona Beach Symphony Society and their presentations of world renown orchestras, opera and ballet companies, and where the Civic Ballet of Volusia County stages The Nutcracker each holiday season.
The News-Journal Center at Daytona State College serves as the venue for student productions by the Mike Curb College of Music, Entertainment and Art, Daytona State College, and for the Halifax Repertory Theatre, a professional theater company serving the greater Daytona Beach Area. Performances include musicals, reviews, cabarets, plays, concerts, recitals and more.
Additional places to enjoy and be inspired include the Museum of Art – DeLand, the Athens Theatre, the Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum, the Art League of Daytona Beach, The Casements, the Daytona Playhouse, The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach and the Southeast Museum of Photography, to name just a few.
